Description

On Friday, the Ministry of Education has held a meeting on the implementation of the State Program for Chess Development in 2009-2014. According to APA, Deputy Minister of Education Elmar Gasimov said there were 66 chess schools in the country at present and more than 1690 teachers let 35 000 schoolchildren to the chess secrets there.
Gasimov said representatives of the Azerbaijani chess schools won 72 medals, including 26 gold in the period of independence of Azerbaijan. There are 21 international grand masters and 12 world-class chess players graduated from the Azerbaijani schools. The deputy minister said the Ministry of Education elaborated special plan of measures for implementation of the State Program and it was continuing work for the development of financial and technical basis of the chess schools. New chess schools were opened in several regions over the past year.
Gasimov mentioned the problems and said some regions needed in the technical basis to open chess schools. The chess schools face with the problem of books in Azeri.
