Presentation on the results of social survey of applying new curriculum and text-books in the first classes for 2008-2009 study year provided by “Sigma” Research Centre for Development and International Collaboration was held in The Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan Republic on October 19th
Employees of The Ministry of Education, well-known scientists, officials of the publishing houses of the text-books and Baku Education Department, members of methodological councils on separate subjects, directors of secondary schools, teachers and parents took part in the meeting.
It should be noted that finding out of positive and negative features in the quality of the curriculum and text books applied in the 1st classes for 2008-2009 study year, evaluation of efficiency of the new text book policy, preparation and test of the most favorable method for the realization of this policy in the future are the main purpose of the survey.
Noting that the text book policy has always been one of the priority fields in the country, minister of education Misir Mardanov spoke about text books prepared according to national curriculum and applied in I classes. “A number of important steps are taken in this direction, researches and discussions are held, world practice has been investigated thoroughly,” added the minister. Saying that the question had became object of discussion for general public and had always been in the centre of attention Misir Mardanov showed his attitude towards some deficiencies and motions, and put forward his thoughts about preparations of the text books.
Later there were presentations by Shahin Zulfugarov, research manager for the survey of “Sigma” Research Centre for Development and International Collaboration and Elmina Kazimzadeh, chairman of Manual Evaluation Council.
Questions of the participants about presentation were responded at the meeting.
