A board meeting on the results of 2009 and the objectives ahead in 2010 held in the Ministry of Education. Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Education Misir Mardanov noted that the most important event of the last year was the adoption of the “Education law, which was discussed for many years. The Ministry prepared and submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers 35 documents connected with the mechanisms of implementation of the law. 6 of these documents are already approved.
It was mentioned that, 16 million for the restoration of schools in an emergency state, 2 million for the development of vocational schools, 2 million for the development of pre-school education, 3 million manat for the continuation of construction of unfinished building of Azerbaijan Medical University were donated from presidential reserve fund.
M. Mardanov said that for the past 5 years, wages of education employees increased 5, scholarships of the students 10 times. Costs allocated to education from the state budget have increased by 21% to 238 million manats. Currently the state spends 2 102 manats on education of a university student.
According to Misir Mardanov, for 5 years more than 2 thousand new school buildings for 450 thousand pupils have been built and put into operation.
